Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fierce lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name since she got married. While growing up living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around the world and experienced various cultures while growing up. Contractor was a wonderful student in Toronto and trained as the classical ballet dancer. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting seriously at age 16 after almost 10 year of dance. As soon as she finished her high school education, she was awarded a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and also double majored with sociology and psychology. Contractor, who had spent a year in university was invited to audition in an open audition for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. This play was named the top production by Canadian the critics. Contractor accepted an invitation to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. The Conservatory has only 8 men as well as four females get accepted to a course of 20 weeks of classical theater. Contractor was guaranteed a spot for the upcoming season of shows and eventually landed the part in the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
